When a trader goes out of stock the item get removed from his selling list, I seen black dye, shards, ectos and even silver dye not being on the trader selling list at some point in the game.

no black dye yet.. i only get.. silver, blue, red, green or other color.. but never black dye.

In one of my previous Guilds we hoarded blacks til we had a lot then distributed them for rewards.

Actually, i got my first black in around 800+ hours of gameplay in a group with 7 henchies. Maybe drops have increased, but i don't really have a past to base it on.

I had two black dye drops back when the game was first released. I didn't know what they were worth so I dyed a piece of starter armour and accidentally dyed my pouch

Ever since then I haven't been lucky at all, while hearing mates w00t about the black dyes they get

In my entire week of playing GW. I've only picked up one dye and it was purple.

Hmm. I think you're right. Rare as hell for me. We're talking < 10 ever in my presence and only 3 to me, since 3-4 BWEs before launch. It's been hundreds of hours since I've seen a black dye drop.

In the last two days I've seen 2. (Neither of them to me, but that's beside the point.)

The first time I played the game I found a dye in pre-searing. Sold it at the merchant for 5 gold.

Man ive played like 400 hrs and i have never gotten black dye.....why is it so rare and is gold dye real?

I picked up two black dyes in the past two days, having never seen one before. Now I don't know what to do with them, because some say you can't make anything selling them to traders, others say you can't get anything for them from other players. So I guess they'll just sit in storage for a bit.

i took a friend farming yesterday. and on the same run, he got 1 black dye and 2 silvers.. i regret bringing him

Damn, I wish I realized at the time how rare black dye was. My ele is completely decked out in black/silver blend.

Looks nice though...

Although, after hearing that black is rare, have only found one since. Go figure.

I got my only 2 blacks in the past week. I have about 450 total hours invensted. I sold both to guildies for 5k each.

I only play about an hour a day if that so I dont expect to find to many dyes, but my main chr. has only found about 3 or 4 black. then I started a seconed chr. and at level 1, I walked out of the city gate and the first 2 skales I killed droped a black and a silver. I couldnt belive it(course, hes lvl 8 now and in postsearing and I have found only 1 dye(blue) since then...LOL)

I saw a guy with a black top on in Pre-Searing today. I told him how much black dye was worth and he just left the city I was in O.o

black is very common to me i found 5 straight im my dye farming area :P (during 2 trys) but i gave them to my friend for his armor........(i forgot how much they were worth at that time 13k -_-)
